TV presenter Gemma Hunt, star of the popular Cbeebies programme Swashbuckle, hosted three Pirate Party services at churches in the Worksop area.

Children of all ages awerere invited to the parties at Christchurch, Worksop, and St Luke’s, Shireoaks, on Palm Sunday – April 14th.

There was lots of pirate-themed fun, games and songs inspired by the TV show, and children who went along are invited to dress as pirates.

Gemma is in demand across the country for TV and presenting work. Since April 2016 she has also been a co-presenter of the Alpha film series, which aims to introduce people to Christianity.

The Revd Luiz Lima, who is the vicar of Christ Church and St Luke’s said it was a fantastic venture and all three sessions were sold out.

And the fun did not stop there… on Easter Sunday there were egg hunts at Christ Church and St Luke’s.

The pirate parties and egg hunt were just part of the wider activities planned by the churches to mark Easter; special services were held for local schoolchildren during which pupils had their feet washed as a reminder of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples at the Last Supper.

All the events were part of a renewed vision for ongoing outreach to children and young people in the areas.
